Nap Time Sucks

When Braydon stopped taking naps during the day, bed time went along a lot smoother. All this time I have been estatic about that change, but thought I have been missing nap time. After all, a little time to myself when the sun is still out is a nice thing. When the preschool informed me that they have nap time at noon and I decided to get Braydon used to the idea, I knew it would be hard. I thought, however, that it would be difficult to get him to lay down in bed and fall asleep. So far, it's been more of a challenge for me. We are only 4 days into the "practice nap" routine, but to date, he has only had one successful nap time. The last 2 days, it was my fault completely. Today we will try again, but I have little hope. After mommy goes back on what she firmly states is a new rule, it's a gigantic challenege to try to enforce it. Here's an overview of the progress so far.

Day one:

After a brief, but loud, fight from Braydon, he fell asleep as if he had been waiting for nap time his whole life. He woke up happy and refreshed. That night he didn't go to sleep until 11pm, but it was due to a meteor shower party we had under the stars.

Day two:

Mommy forgot. Braydon remembered at 2pm. I tried to get him to lay down. He wasn't tired. Fearing that a nap too late in the day would keep him up all night, with no valid excuse, I gave up.

Day three:

Mommy's birthday and erronds to run. (This is the day we went to the preschool for a second time, but left frusterated.) On our way to meet my mother for a birthday lunch (around 12:30pm) Braydon passed out in the car. Nap time. The car broke down. I woke him up. Nap time over. This day sucked. Braydon went to sleep only about 20 minutes later than his bedtime. And for the first time in his life, layed in bed awake by himself and fell asleep on his own. This and the birthday flowers he gave me in the morning, turned the day around.

Today is day four. Braydon is quietly playing in the living room and I am about to offer him a snack before I attempt to have him take a nap. We shall see.
